An incredible kick off to the season marks this first weekend in orange-green colors; after the epic victory in the GTD (Gran Turismo Daytona) category in 2018, Orange1 Team GRT  did it again in 2019 edition, bringing home another record, a milestone in the history of Motorsport: no one had ever won the legendary american race two times in a row.

The 57th edition of the famous endurance race in the Daytona International Speedway, was interrupted twice with the red flag due to heavy rain and bad weather conditions and this made the victory even more incredible and well deserved.

Despite the exit from the top ten due to a puncture four hours before the chequered flag, the rookie huracan GT3 Evo # 11 masterfully driven by Mirko Bortolotti, Rolf Ineichen, Rick Breukers and Christian Engelhart started the race in fifth place and in the early hours dropped positions due to a penalty of more than 3 minutes inflicted on Breukers, who succeeded Ineichen at the wheel. The latter gained to 11 position and then left the car to teammates Bortolotti and Engelhart to drive the long night of Daytona. Two hours before the end Bortolotti was fighting for the top position but he has been involved in a crash that caused the puncture of a tire and yet another return to the pits. Everything to be redone, with Engelhart forced to recover a lap away from the race leader. The German driver has made a wonderful comeback in the rain. Recovering from the eleventh position to gain the leadership. Almost at the end, red flag out again and the race was suspended for the second time due to the bad track conditions. After waiting for a weather improvement, the Race management has finally decided to suspend the 24 Hours allowing Orange1 Team GRT to claim victory.

The 2019 was an exciting race, fought with the indomitable spirit that brings us back to the first victory in 2018, when even if it started from the last position, the team made an epic comeback to the first legendary podium.

Armando Donazzan Orange1 President  declares: “There are no words to describe the emotion; a second historical victory and a success gained thanks to an incredibile team work, with one goal in mind: victory!
