Orange1 FFF Racing Team reinforces its line-up for the 2021 24 Hours of Spa
Orange1 FFF Racing Team started the preparation for 24 Hours of Spa, scheduled on 31 July as the headline event of Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS and Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli. The Chinese squad is tackling between 22 and 23 June the two-day collective test at the legendary Ardennes venue, fielding its two Lamborghini Huracàn GT3 Evo cars. The #19, which competes in the Pro-Am class, will get an expanded line-up for this event, as Bertrand Baguette joins regular drivers Hiroshi Hamaguchi and Phil Keen.
The 35-years-old Belgian ace has a wealthy racing experience, taking part since 2014 in Japan’s Super GT championship. In 2020 he finished third in the standings, while in May he won the last round at the Fuji circuit. Bertrand conquered as well an LMP2 title in the 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship, thanks also to the class win in the Le Mans 24 Hours, and reached important milestones in single-seaters winning the 2009 Formula Renault 3.5 series and contesting IndyCar and Super Formula.
This is going to be Baguette’s seventh assault at the 24 Hours of Spa, a race obviously quite special to him as Spa is only a few kilometers away from his hometown, Verviers. His first participation in this event occurred in 2008, and now he is eager to back into contention after his personal last attempt in 2019.
Andrea Caldarelli, Team Principal Orange1 FFF Racing Team
“I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Bertrand in our team. He’s a driver I had the privilege to race against during my days in Japan, and I could appreciate his skills from very close. Since then, we have built a solid friendship and now we have the opportunity to work together. Moreover, Spa-Francorchamps represents Bertrand’s home track and he has great familiarity with this specific event, the 24 Hours. I’m sure he’ll play a key role in the line-up, supporting Hiroshi and Phil at the wheel of #19 Lamborghini .
