Victory in Bronze Cup for Orange1 Tresor Attempto Racing at the 100th Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa

30.06.2024 – Tresor Attempto Racing achieved a prestigious victory in the Bronze Cup category at the Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa with the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II #66, driven by Andrey Mukovoz, Max Hofer (A), Dylan Pereira (LUX), and Alexey Nesov. This marks the Italian team’s first success in the renowned Belgian race, held as the second round of the 2024 Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup.

The team, led by Ferdinando Geri, entered three cars for the year’s most important race. Along with the #66, there was also the #99 in the Pro category with Alex Aka (GER), Ricardo Feller (CH), and Christopher Haase (GER) in the Orange 1 livery, and the #88 in Gold with Lorenzo Ferrari (ITA), Leonardo Moncini (ITA), Lorenzo Patrese (ITA), and Glenn Van Berlo (NL) in the San Lorenzo livery.

The Belgian weekend confirmed Tresor Attempto Racing’s competitiveness, with the technicians working from the first sessions to ensure a leading role among the over 60 teams participating. At the end of qualifying, the drivers of the #66 secured fourth position in the Bronze category with a combined time of 2’16.695s, while the #99 finished eighteenth in Pro with a time of 2’16.069s. After four sessions, the #88 brought great excitement by securing a spot in Super Pole. In the decisive round for the top grid positions, Patrese posted the fourth overall time at 2’14.006s, securing the Gold category pole position.

The race for the #66 was particularly memorable for Tresor Attempto Racing. The IWS-liveried car took advantage of every opportunity thanks to the teamwork in the pit box, strategic decisions, precision mechanics, and flawless driving by Mukovoz, Hofer, Pereira, and Nesov. The team stayed close to the front, effectively managing neutralization periods and nighttime rain, and launched a decisive attack during the night to take the lead in the Bronze Cup. In the final hours, the quartet solidified this stunning victory, crossing the finish line as winners, making the triumph even more special by occurring during the race’s Centenary edition.

The race for the #88 car was quite eventful. After a strong start, Moncini was hit from behind around the fifth hour, forcing the Italian driver into the gravel. Despite frantic work in the pits, the San Lorenzo-liveried Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II’s recovery and repair operations cost several laps and compromised a potential podium finish in the Gold Cup. Patrese, Ferrari, Van Berlo, and Moncini then staged a spectacular comeback, finishing fourth in the Gold Cup.

A great recovery was also seen for the #99. After a less impressive qualifying than expected, the drivers delivered a strong race performance. Aka, Feller, and Haase employed their experience and speed, making the most of numerous neutralizations and precisely choosing their race strategy, recovering twelve positions to finish twelfth overall, just shy of the top ten.

Ferdinando Geri, Team Principal Tresor Attempto Racing:
“Standing on the top step of the podium at the Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa is one of the most significant achievements for Tresor Attempto Racing since the beginning of our sporting journey. The race was very challenging: numerous neutralizations, rain, and safety cars required the entire team to work tirelessly to allow the drivers to perform to their potential. I can say that all three crews gave their utmost and were protagonists, and perhaps in terms of absolute performance, we deserved even a bit more with the #99 and the #88. The 24 Hours is like that; everything can change from one moment to the next, but we can say we are satisfied. I would also like to highlight the second row for the #88 after qualifying for the SuperPole and the great comeback of the #99 during the race. Bringing home the victory in the Bronze Cup with the #66 validates the great work we are doing, and for this, I must thank the drivers, everyone in the pit box, and our supporters. We savor this moment and look forward to the upcoming events with even greater determination”.
